Description
This panoramic illustration depicts the buzz of the world famous Oxford vs Cambridge boat race, which begins at Putney Embankment. There is always excitement to be seen on the riverbank, but never more so than at the annual boat race.
Inspired by Putney’s most famous landmark, this series of prints depict the Embankment on race day, complete with the bustling crowds and waving flags.
The prints represent hundreds of hours of drawing, referencing hundreds of photos to ensure the details are accurate. I painstakingly draw every individual detail, including cornicing, lintels, railings, columns. A variety of techniques are used, from drawing the more organic features by hand to the use of architectural design software for accurate linework. Finally, the print is block coloured before being sent to the professional printing company, who produce the fine art ‘giclée’ print onto premium quality heavyweight Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm paper.
