Jennifer Greenland

Jennifer Greenland is a figurative oil painter.  She has drawn and painted from a young age but studied painting more formally at The Art Academy in London between 2010 and 2012.

Jennifer’s inspiration comes from an insatiable curiosity for the world around her, it’s conflicts and contradictions, a love of the natural world, and a fascination about how the land changes over time as people engage with it. In recent times Jennifer has become increasingly interested in the concepts of journey, time and change and her practice has adapted accordingly.  She has started undertaking extended painting trips to explore in a very tangible way the ideas of journey, constant motion and change over time. These painted journeys have given Jennifer a way of combining her passion for painting with a love of observational writing, by linking her subjects present day reality with their geographical and literary past.

Jennifer’s studio is located just outside London in the Surrey Hills. She is often sketching in the surrounding countryside or in the bustling streets and parks of London a stone’s throw away.  In her urban landscape paintings, Jennifer draws inspiration from well-known parts of the capital. She endeavours to communicate a sense of the bustle and charm of London’s busy streets.  Jennifer is always seeking to find a point of beauty and balance within the composition and to create a lively picture surface full of light and colour.
